Week 3

We had another GREAT week of preschool. We learned the letter "R" and started our "Rain forest" unit...I will have to post pictures later...I left the camera in my husbands truck and he is at work.

We did a lot of cutting, shapes and colors this week (that was the goal of all the different versions of the rain forest). This coming up week we will making a lot of the animals that are in the rain forest...which means we will be PAINTING every day. We wear paint shirts, but please have your children dress accordingly!! :)

We learned the "RED" song:
R-E-D- Red
R-E-D Red
I can spell red
I can spell red
Fire trucks are RED
Stop signs are too
R-E-D
R-E-D

We played a memory game to see if they could "Remember"...using rain forest animal cards.

We read a lot of books including one all about the rain forest.

We learned the sign language for the letter "R" (and for every letter we learn) and this week we will learn sign language and Spanish for some of the animals. We will also be working on the color green and the numbers 3 and 13 and the letter "S"

We have lots of fun activities planned so please don't miss!! UNLESS your sick! :)

Have a great week.

More pictures from Week 2

I thought I would experiment with a collage...it's A LOT quicker to upload pictures this way...and still gives you a little sneak peek into what they are doing here at school and who they are playing with etc. They are all so adorable...and I LOVE getting to know each of them. They ALWAYS put a smile on my face!!
If you click on the collage it makes it a lot bigger so you can actually see their faces!! (at least on my computer!!)Posted by Picasa

Preschool Week 2

We had another GREAT week in preschool... we learned the letter "M" and did fun activities like M&M Math and we read the story "If you give a moose a muffin" and then we made our own muffins. We also had some random crafts...we practicing our cutting skills, and I was making sure everyone knew their colors, etc. We will start our first theme about the "Rainforest"...which comes in handy since we will be learning the letter "R". Here are a few pictures from the week. The kids are getting better and better and making new friends and playing with one another...but sometimes they still like to play alone...and that's ok...It won't stay that way for long.

Things to know about king/queen... Your child will be my special helper all day. They also get to bring snack for the class. Please bring enough for 12 kids. Drinks are not necessary (I will serve water) but you are welcome to bring them if you would like. Please don’t make snack a big deal as this could get really expensive—apple slices are great, or popcorn, or $1.00 cookies from Wal-Mart, etc. Please don’t feel like you need to buy several things and spend a lot of money- it’s only a SNACK not lunch…

Also, they are more than welcome to bring in a poster when it is their turn to tell about themselves or anything special to them to share with the class, etc. Since they are my helper so frequently—you only need to do this a couple times.

First week of School 2009

We have had a GREAT first week of preschool! Your children are all so well behaved and adjusted to school life...routines... schedules... rules...WONDERFULLY! We did take it easy this week and mostly worked on our names and "getting to know you" games and crafts. I hope you all enjoyed their little books they made for you. It was fun to hear their answers to some of those questions. Here are a few RANDOM pictures from the week...I promise to get better pictures next week!!

The big hit for toys this week: the kitchen and the doll houses...even the boys!! However we took out the train sets today and they had fun with those too!

We read several books including : David goes to school; Rosie's Walk; There's a nightmare in my closet; There's an alligator under my bed; Papa Please get the moon for me; etc.

We discussed the rules of our classroom; To always be kind and talk nicely; to play with everyone and share because we are all friends (they are all getting along so well...I love it...and I'm sure it will even get better as time goes on); we use walking feet in preschool; etc. They did a great job following the rules.

We will start our letters next week and will begin with "M"...I will wait until September to start our themes!! Have a great week!!
