Happenings this week and weeks past!!

Time seriously needs to SLOW down!! I can't believe we are down to 8 weeks of school!! I don't have any pictures to post as I want to save some things unseen! :)

Instead of posting the letters we have learned...it's finally easier to post the ones we HAVEN'T learned: R, W, Y, Z (We are learning the "U"..says uh..umbrella and YOU...unicorn...there is one more sound but I don't want to confuse them...they learned three for A and O)

We have also learned:
ALL the colors (including gold and silver)
ALL the shapes (including octagon and rhombus (diamond))
ALL the numbers 1-10 (except 7...coming soon)
How to count up to 30 in ENGLISH and SPANISH!
All the SOUNDS of the letters (obviously)
How to write our name
Working on 3 and four letter word families.

And so much more...socially, emotionally, physically. All of our different themes...graphs, patterns, rhymes, poems, etc. It is safe to say that all my 4 year olds and 5 year olds are ready for kindergarten!! They will all do GREAT!!

However...we have SO MUCH MORE to learn. It is graduation time... I am going to do the patriotic theme AGAIN (I apologize to you who have heard it before...hopefully it will be a whole new experience...I'll try to switch it up a little or something) I never heard feed back for anything else, and I think it is so amazing when the kids learn all these amazing songs!!...

Over the next few weeks we will be learning:
The Pledge of Allegiance
Proud to be an American
This land is your land
These are the continents
God bless the USA
and maybe one more to mix it up a little for those of you that have heard it. I might see if I can burn you a copy of the CD that we will be using so you can practice at home or in your car...I'm determined to have a better program than our Christmas one. Graduation is usually way better...on a grander scale, etc. I usually do it at night at a church house (more room, TV/multiple chair access, etc.) but again I can leave that up to you...If your May nights are too crazy I can do it during preschool...I just like when moms, dads, and grandparents can all come.

I'm still waiting to see when I can get the building but it will be somewhere between May 19 and the 21st. I also need to know if anyone has any HS (or seminary for my LDS parents) graduations that you need to attend, because they might be on the same night...I will book it another night if I need to.

These next few weeks get VERY busy...we have Easter activities (party on the 9th...I will ask everyone to bring 6 FILLED eggs) We have Mother's Day projects, Graduation decorations, hats, etc (we also make shirts so I will ask you to bring a PLAIN white shirt the week or so before school gets out...so if you see one on sale you can buy it but don't bring it until I ask please...or if you already have one...don't spend more than three bucks or so. I know they have them at Michael's and Wal-Mart that cheap); we have to learn all our new songs for graduation. I want to have a bake sale (the kids favorite activity...and a GREAT learning experience for them) and I wold like to squeeze in one more field trip to the grocery store. So we will be busy busy busy!! So please try not to miss or be late (unless of course they are sick!! :))

Speaking of field trips...don't forget KRISPY KREME Monday at 9:30. School will be normal T-TH.

I think that just about covers it! As always if you have any questions or comments you can leave it here, or email me tyandtiff@hotmail.com or call me 324-0389. Thanks so much!!

March Already?!?!?!

Where does the time go? I can't believe it's March already! Here's a little insight into the past two weeks at preschool.

The dollhouse is still a hit with my morning friends, and is usually played a least a little bit every day.
My afternoon friends do such a great job of playing all together as well.

Hayden loves the doll house and is usually the first one found playing with it.

Sami and Alexa have loved building a "stage" the last couple days and dancing on it while listening to our "outer space" music.

Aren't they beautiful dancers? They had the whole class in their for a little bit!!

We graphed our favorite kind of chocolate...ice cream one in both classes! :)

We told a story about a little girl who made her dad's lunch every day for him (he was a coal miner) and she would put a treat in it everyday...ice cream (it melted), cake (she forgot a fork so he got all sticky), and a cookie (it got all crumbled into pieces) so she finally made up her own dessert for him...A MOON PIE...so one day the kids made their own moon pie...graham crackers, frosting, and marshmallows (sorry if they didn't eat lunch! :))

We also played a game where we had to match the correct shapes to the correct martian/aliens.

We also played Space Bingo, but I don't think I got a picture. Instead of saying :bingo" they had to say "Blast Off!!" They seemed to like that!

The day I told the moon pie story I had store bought moon pies for them (picture below) but the next day they got to make their ow

Crew and Mason putting on a puppet show for me...
We also practiced making the letter "K" with our bodies...
"Soldiers"--straight line down
"Punch your arm up"

"Kick your leg out"--"What letter are we?...K...What sound do we make...Kuh" This helped them visualize it before we made it on the board.
I also took out my little white boards this week and we practiced writing a lot of the letters we have learned (which is almost all of them...I think we have about 6 left). We also practiced reading our three letter word family words. They did so good doing them for homework...hopefully they read them to you to. I will continue to do this throughout the year...so keep practicing with them...the more they practice the quicker they "get it". They are all doing fantastic though!
This week we will be doing the letter "B" and our theme is "sounds of spring"...should be lots of fun!!
I hope you all have a great week. Don't forget Spring Break will be March 17-19. Hope you can do something fun with your families!!
